World Book Day 2022

Image
Book week has been fantastic! To celebrate World Book Day, we took a trip to 'Foyles' our local book store. We exchanged our Book day tokens for a book of our choice! We also enjoyed coming to school in the evening with our pyjamas and cuddly toys to listen to bedtime stories! On Friday, we came to school dressed up as our favourite book characters. Miss Kondwani was dressed as Katherine Johnson and read us a story about her called 'Counting on Katherine'.

STEM Week

Image
For STEM week, our focus was triangles! We had great discussions about the properties of a triangle, thought about where we see triangles in every day life and learnt about the different types of triangles.  We use our skills to complete a triangle investigation using matchsticks. We were keen to find our how many matchstick we would need to use to make different triangles.

Home learning 18.02.22

Image
Hiya Year 4, Due to the weather warning, there will be no school 18.02.22. Please use some of your time at home to complete the activities below. I hope that you enjoy your half-term and I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 1st March 2022. Miss Kondwani :) Literacy: This term, you worked incredibly hard when learning about Mary Anning and creating your own newspaper reports. As you did not get the chance to complete your newspaper reports in school, I would love to read completed newspaper reports that you have written at home. Remember to think to include the key features that we covered this year: Who is the report about? What happened? Where did it happen? When did it happen? Why did it happen? Direct speech - When interviewed, Maya said "I can not believe that dinosaur remains were found here in Cabot!" Reported (indirect speech) - Maya said that she couldn't believe that dinosaur remains were found in Cabot. Headline I have included the original text to help

Our Stone Age WOW day

Image
Year 4 had an incredible WOW day on Friday. We transformed the classroom in to a cave and then decorated it with our incredible cave paintings. To compliment the stone Age dress up that we wore to school, we made our own stone age pendants to wear. Have you ever seen Stonehenge recreated using biscuits? Well, we did just that! It took a lot of patience, resilience and teamwork to create Biscuithenge but they looked fantastic when we finished. During the afternoon, we built a fire and toasted marshmallows over it!

Sugar investigation

Image
In class, we have been learning about different ways to keep our teeth healthy. We did an investigation to discover how much sugar is in some of the drinks that we like. We were very shocked by our findings!

Mexican pottery

To finish our Mexico topic we designed, constructed and painted our own Mexican pots!

Our PSHE masterpiece!

In our PSHE lesson, we talked about the word 'unique'.  We recognised that we are all unique and have individual talents that makes our class an incredible place. Everyone in our class was given a hand to design, once we completed this we created a masterpiece!
